Junior Environmental/Civil Engineer

Reports to: General Manager
Location: Saskatoon, SK (requires travel to project sits throughout the province)
Direct Reports: None
Key Relationships: General Manager, Geoscientists/Engineers, Business Management & HR Specialist, Project personnel, Draftsperson(s), etc.

Purpose

  • Provide engineering services where required

  • Provide environmental assessment and regulatory support for current and future projects.

  • Responsible to support key aspects of the processes for completion of projects

  • Assist senior staff

What Success will look like in 1 year:

  • Policies and Procedures developed

  • Business and Marketing Plan developed

  • ECO’s Business and Market Share expanded

  • Projects are completed as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development

  • Conformance with ECO ENGINEERING Policies and procedures and relevant statutory obligations

  • Promote and ensure compliance with a zero-harm culture

  • Ensure the implementation of HSE policies and procedures in regard to field crew and contractors

  • Promote team environment and teamwork

Job-Specific Duties

  • Assist in the collection of pertinent data for various phases of projects 

  • Provide input to design of various municipal infrastructures 

  • Assist geoscientists, engineers and senior management on project plans 

  • Support the assembly of project deliverables 

  • Support key relationships with clients and regulatory officers when required 

  • Enter lab data and test results and format tables to review with geoscientists and engineers 

  • Complete all project tasks assigned on budget and on schedule 

  • Contribute to documents and reports required on various projects 

  • Assist team to develop company policies and procedure documents related to engineering projects and tasks 

  • Edit technical documents for grammar and overall readability 

  • Assist team in researching and developing proposals

A Class 5 Driver’s License is required and Driver’s Abstract may be required

Education and Training

Third or fourth year student in or recent graduate from a recognized university working towards a Bachelor’s degree in, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geology or Hydrogeology

Training in HSE would be an asset  

Experience:

  • Must have experience using AutoCAD and Civil3D

  • Knowledge of using a GPS Tremble R10 model will be beneficial

  • Preference will be given to applicants with 5 to 10 years of experience in drafting and surveying in municipal infrastructures and or resource management projects
